The chapter opens with a flashback to Malvin's "section three" . Malvin is dead, and his body is being given over to the "ni imperial scientific laboratory" , which is supposed to perform an "autopsy" on the body for scientific research. The narrator says that Malvin "is an idiot" and that the family of the dead man won't even know about his death. He also says that the "invisible nine" were given over by the Hirondelle, which means that the body was "handover to the imperial laboratory by their request." Malvin, the narrator says, is "more interested in investigating conspiracy behind it" than in investigating corporal . This is because the head of the section is more interested "in investigating the conspiracy" than "investigating the corporal." The narrator also notes that the division officer, marwin, was ordered to go on a date instead of meeting with Malvin. He says that he thought Malvin was going to kill him.
