In this short scene, the spirit queen awakens from her trance. She tells the king that she is the queen of the human race and that he owes her and her clan a great debt. The king tells her that he is the human emperor, but that he has to take care of his people. He says that he was overwhelmed by his compassion, and he was worried that his reputation would be ruined and that the Empress dowager might get something against him. He explains that he needs to be rational during crises and not give up on his people, because as long as he carries the royal blood of his family, he will have to fulfill his duties. The spirit queen tells him that he must have been a good emperor, because after the late emperor's death, the whole human army betrayed him and surrendered to the Empress. She blames the emperor for not listening to the prime minister in the crisis. She says that the emperor should have married the daughter of the prime and saved the country. The army betrayed the emperor.
