The chapter opens with a flashback to the events of the previous chapter, in which Mina and the others are discussing the disappearance of Miyuki's books. Mina asks Miyuki if he has a plan for them to survive, and Miyuki replies that he does. The flashback shows that Miyuki is planning to use scissors and paper to make the numbers on the goal plates appear, thus clearing the way for one person to reach the goal. Miyuki says that this is a very simple plan, and that the only problem is that there are too many people to accomplish it all at once. He says that the sixth son will have to find his own way to the goal, and the last son will need someone else to help him.
