In this chapter, we learn that the first team to flag the white flag will be the first to die in the battle. The blind player has to find the sand pile and clear it before the other four teams can do the same. The first team that finds the sand will be killed, and the blind player will have to find a way to clear it. The other two teams will try to clear the sand first, but they'll have to wait until the other team has cleared the first sand pile before they can do so. If they don't, they're going to die. The only way to do this is to take as much sand as you can. If you take too much sand, you'll die, and if you just take too little, you won't be able to clear anything at all. The team that takes the least amount of sand will get the most out of the battle, because the white-squid will be squashing it. So, the blind team has to take more sand than the other two, and they've already taken 420 grams, which puts them at the top of the pile. They're not going to abandon the fight, though, because no one is going to do it.
