The battle is over, and the two of them are left alone together. They're both psyched to be alive, but they're worried about what's going to happen to the other side of the mountain. Akashi asks what he should do, and he says he should go for the team that's winning the battle. He doesn't want anyone to die, he says, because he's the one who won the battle in the first place. He tells Akashi that he can do anything he wants now, even if it means that he'll have to die. He's not afraid of death any more, he tells him. They agree that the east mountain is lost, but everyone's got an equal chance to win the battle, so they should try to win it all. They both feel sorry for each other, but Akashi says he can't leave them behind. He promises that they'll stay together, even though they haven't spoken to each other in a long time. He says that he wants to live if the battle has to end without him.
