About This Chapter
In this chapter, we are introduced to a number of characters that we have not yet met in the novel. The first of these characters is uchi uchi, or "younger brother." He is the protagonist of the novel, and we learn that he is the son of the protagonist's father, who is the founder of the family business. uchi and his younger brother, uchi-chan, have a dream in which they are separated from their mother and father, and they are forced to live together in a school building. The dream is interrupted by the sound of the school bell, and the protagonist realizes that he has been separated from his mother. He realizes that his body has been moved to the school building, and he realizes that it is possible that he may be able to find his clothes in the sand box, which is located in the northeast corner of the room. The protagonist then realizes that the dream is not a dream at all, but rather a nightmare, and that his dream is a result of the trauma he has experienced in the past. He remembers that he was the youngest winner ever at the piano competition, and his mother was the most beautiful woman he has ever known. He also remembers that when he was a child, he had stopped moving his finger when his father did not love him. He wonders if this is the dream he has had, and when he tells uchi that he too has had a dream, she tells him that she has had one too.
