The chapter opens with a flashback to the beginning of the story, when em>Mistress/em> a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mistress" target="_blank">Mistress /a> had a dream in which she was a "star" . The flashback shows that Mistress was able to create a copy of himself, and that this was the first time he had been able to do so. Mistress wonders if this is all a result of the "tomfoolery" , or the "power of god," that he and the others have been using all day. He wonders if the "weird stuff" that happened to them today is a part of it, and he wonders if it is all the result of a dream he had earlier in the day, when he thought that he was "a star." He wonders what the "real thing" is, and wonders if he can figure out what is really going on. He thinks about how he beat the dog all by himself , and how he tried to do the same thing one more time, only to find that his heart was "enwrapped" by love. He wants to know what the heck is going on, so he decides to "figure out" what's going on with the "super powers" that he's been using. He decides that each of his items has its own "trigger" to "activate" the "tombfoolery," and that each person has their own "sense" of what it means to be "a rock." He thinks that everyone will have to learn how to use this power to beat the enemy, but he thinks that they'll have time to figure it out before the gates of the Tomorrow open.
