In this chapter, we learn that the well has been completely destroyed by jiang, and that he has been unable to eat for several days. We also learn that he used to hang a brooch on his chest, which he says he would never have been able to get if he were still alive. He tells us that the brooch looks familiar to him, and he wonders how she died. He says that he is going to tell jiang about the brooch, but that she is already dead, and jiang will want to know why she would want to tell him about a brooch. He also says that if she refuses to show him her memories, he will lower her master's guard for a second time. She says that she just remembers something about ice blue when she was facing it, and she says that even when she is facing ice blue, she is so sacred. She adds that the ice blue is an illusion that jiang puts on her. She tells him that she has overcome her fear and found her true self. She asks him to come back to her and tell her what he has done.
