Okay, now we're back in the middle of the action again. This time, the guy's in a panic. He's worried about what's going on with his friend, Shu-Miao, and he wants to get to the bottom of it. He wants to know what the heck happened to her, and what he should have done to stop it. The guy can't figure out a way to explain it to him, so he just coughs and coughs. He says that he's never seen anything like this before, and that he doesn't want his body to break apart. He tells the guy that he tried to exorcise all of the "miasma" in her body, but he couldn't get rid of any new ones. The problem is, he says, that the new ones are connected to the old ones. So, if you're going to do an effective exorcism, you need to be able to clean up the "settled value" of the old miasma before you can do the same on the new one. So the guy has to figure out how to do it on his own, which is why he coughs so much. He also says that the guy must have asked him for help, because he'll be unable to do the job himself. He smells a lot like the guy, and it's a good thing that he hasn't said a lot of nasty things in the past.
