In this short scene, we meet Sun Siidao, the leader of the peach-blossom sect, and his son, Sun Yuqian, a young man of 24 years old. The two of them are in the hot springs at the foot of a mountain in the mountains of northern China, where they have been invited to stay for the night. The young man is upset that he has been snubbed by his father, who has forbidden him to have any fun with the other men. He tells the young man that he is being disrespectful to his superior, and that he should not have fun with his father because he is single and has a nun with him. He also tells his father that he once said that if his brother had not been killed, he would have been drunk when he said that he was more talented. This is a reference to the incident in which his brother was killed, and the two young men discuss the incident. The younger man is impressed by the beauty of his father's hair, which he has not yet dried, and by the fact that his friend, the nun, is also present. He asks his father if he has fallen in love with the nun. The elder man replies that he does not, but that he fell for her "a long time ago" and that she is his friend too. He then asks his son if he wants to marry the nun and the younger man says that he would like to, too.
