The xia family is having dinner in the attic, and the young man wants to go to the attic to have a bite to eat. The young man's aunt is very snobbish about the whole thing, so he wants to save some money and take his aunt's son, nuo nio, out of the house. He tells his aunt that the witches have bullied her so much, and that she needs to teach the witches a lesson. He also tells her that she and her son are forced to eat at the attic because their food is better than that of the family's. The witches come downstairs, and Mr. and Mrs. feng are there, too. Mr. feng tells Mrs. xia that her son and daughter-in- law are inferior to him and his wife, and he wants them to come downstairs and eat with him. He then goes on to say that the two of them have already divorced, so it's inappropriate for him to call his ex-wife his wife. He says that he doesn't need to worry about his niece and son in law laughing at him, because he's already married to his own daughter and grandson. He goes on and on about how he loves his daughter as his own, and his son as his grandson, and how he'd like to see his daughter and son-law come downstairs to eat together. He's interrupted by the arrival of feng, who tells him that his son's foot has gotten injured, and so he needs to get some rest before he goes downstairs. He asks his son to go downstairs, but his son insists that he should go downstairs instead. The old witch scolds her, saying that she's the one who has to suffer with the xias
