The next morning, Ling learns that she has been released from prison. She is shocked to find that her brother has not snuck into her bed, but that he has smoked a lot. She tells him that she is going abroad for some time, and that she will not take him abroad because she does not want him to die alone. She asks him if it is not for his surgery, and he replies that it is for his own sake. She begs him not to give up on his love for her, but he says that he will not give up unless she dies.
