The door is open, and the Governess is shocked to see that the young couple is still together. The Governess tells the couple that she is worried about the younger Governess's feelings for the younger man, and warns them to keep an eye out for him. She also tells them that they should move back to their old home, because she is about to divorce her husband, and she will not be able to divorce him. They are both shocked and horrified at what they have just witnessed. They realize that they have been drugged, and they are both very upset. They decide to return to the home of their former landlord, and he welcomes them with open arms.
