He is a very powerful man, with nine adopted children including Ling Ling. He has escaped prison, used a dagger to create a new world, and is now an extremely wealthy businessman and a military advisor to the north American army. He does not have a sense of morality, but he likes to let people make their own choices. He gives Ling Ling a present, and Ling Ling wonders what kind of gift it is.
