In the middle of the night, the ghost appears at the door of Madame Pernelle's house. He is accompanied by the ghost of a rich client, who has given him the password to the house. The ghost tells the client that he has come to check on the "demon" in her house, and that something is about to happen that night. He tells her that he will explain the situation to her later, but first, he wants to know why the house is so empty. Madame Perenelle tells him that it is for the rich, and she has given the ghost the password. When the ghost enters the house, he is greeted by the sound of a splash in the water and the smell of a demon's breath. He asks why the villa is empty, and Madame Perelle explains that she is afraid that something will happen to her. When he asks her why she is so afraid, she says that she does not want to say no to the man, but that she wants to stay in the mirror and hide in the darkness. When she asks him why he is trying to harm her, he says that he does not have anything to do with the desire for her to sleep with him, but he does have to kill her now that she has found him. He says he is in charge of "the mirror world," where the "true self of people" will show up, and he is dying anyway, because someone wants her to be killed "slow and unnoticed" . He wants to be sure that the client does not know that he is there, so that he can kill her quickly. He then asks the ghost why he looks with a woman in arms, and the ghost replies that he looks at her because she has feelings for him.
