This chapter opens with a description of the different levels of day and night-hunters in the chongming household. It is explained that the higher the level of the day-hunter, the more power he or she has. The lower the level, the greater his or her power. In other words, the lower the person's power is, the higher his power is. This chapter ends with a discussion of the possibility of a team being formed to fight against the commercial clans.
