In this chapter, we meet the young man who has come to join the clan of night-hunters. He tells his aunt that he wants to join because his mother died so that he could protect her. He also wants to avenge her death and warn her of the dangers of the night-hunting world. He asks her to lend him some drinks for a few days. She agrees, and tells him that even if he does not join her clan, she will try to get him to marry her daughter.
