In this chapter, we are introduced to a number of characters, each of whom is described in great detail. For example, in Chapter One hundred twenty-two, the ghost of Mina is described as a "creepy" woman who always just bows before her dead body. Mina is also described as having an "empty body" and a "merry fool dawn" . In other words, she has no body at all. She has no speech, no voice, and no way of knowing what is going on around her. The ghost is also depicted as having a "coldly alluring" face, a "stitched skin" , and a voice that is "narrated rows her teeth" and glares at them from "no . . and from the depths of the earth. The scene ends with Mina and Tamura discussing the possibility of a duel between the two of them.
