In this chapter, we are introduced to a new character, saki, who has just returned from a visit with Macbeth. She tells us that she feels isolated from the rest of the world because she resembles Macbeth so much that she wishes she could go back to her former life. She also says that she doesn't want to be seen as a replacement for Macbeth, because she's not sure that she'll be able to find a job anywhere else in the world. Tamura chimes in that it's probably not a good idea for saki to be so isolated, since he's the only one who can help her out. He also tells her that the place where she used to live is now up for rent, and that she should be careful where she goes. He tells her to be careful not to get caught up in the drama that's about to take place. He says that the play will be based on a fairy tale, but the plot will be changed so that Tamura can interpret the role in his or her own way.
