About This Chapter
In this chapter, the three of them discuss the possibility of meeting again on the heath. The three discuss the intensity of Macbeth's relationship with Hal, and Hal's growing unease at the prospect of meeting her on stage. Hal says that his mother's acting became so good that it consumed her. He says that if he were Macbeth, he would never abandon the stage, because the only place he can live is in this world. Hal tells Macbeth that he is certain that she will never leave the stage. He also tells her that Hal has been steadily moving forward in his career, as if he had never left his lover. Hal warns Macbeth to be on her guard when she is sleeping, because when she and Hal are both dead, they will have blood on their hands.
