The chapter opens with a flashback to a time before Nemo's arrival in Japan. The flashback shows that Nemo and his mother fought together, and that Nemo fought to the death for his mother's life. Nemo tells his mother that she can't believe that she's so obsessed with her daughter's delusion that she won't accept him as her own daughter. He tells her that he used to be a cry baby, and he remembers a scar on his back. Nemo says that he's not sure if the scar is real or not, but that he doesn't remember anything about the trip he took with his mother to Japan when he was a child. He also says that his wife has a similar delusion, which is called "capgras delusion" . He suggests that the father try getting his wife's capgras diagnosis.
