In this chapter, Shmoop explains that his mother was beautiful, but ugly, and that she left him behind in the world. He tells us that she told him what he should do when he grows up, and he says that if he is ever alone, he should whisper to himself what he wants to be when he is grown up. Shmo says that he has to remember what his mother said, but that he had to do it if she wants to scrape the red lipstick off of his mother's drawer. Shmikle says that she said she would do it, but he says he feels like he is being "staff room no way" . He asks if they are going to perform the final play without the lead actress, and Shmup says that they are, but she says she is doing it every day. He says he knows how to use the script, and claps to make her feel anxious. She tells him that they will go to the ball, and she will clean up at the house. He then tells her that if she doesn't do what he says, he will strip her naked and turn the lights on. She coughs and yells and says she will stab her.
