In this chapter, Hirokazu begins to talk about his mother's death. He tells us that his mother died because he stole her face from her. He also says that he and his father were too chummy with each other, and that he's going to leave them alone for three days so that they can come up with a plan to erase the memory of his mother. He says he'll go away, but not before he tells his mother that he buried her body in order to leave "last foot prints" in a place "far away from her body." He also tells her that he loves her very much, but that she'll have to wait a while before he can see her again.
