About This Chapter
This is the first time we've seen the girl we're about to meet in the play. We're not sure what to make of her, since she's pretty much a bratty bratty little bratty thing. But we'll give it a shot anyway. The girl is looking at a sea glass, which is kind of a bummer since it's so pretty. The narrator asks the girl if she'd like to look at some more, and the girl says, "Sure, I'll look for some more." The narrator says he's going to throw the sea glass away, but he'll hold on to a memento of his mother, since that's the only thing that matters to her. He says he always wanted to go to the sea, too, and live like he wanted to live. He doesn't want to live like his ugliness keeps him from being able to have a good time with the girl. He wants to eat some food, but his face is still ugly, so he can't eat. He's happy to be in the company of the girl, and he says that if he ever calls her back, she'll have to report him to the police.
