The chapter opens with a soliloquy by Hirohito, in which he laments the fact that his daughter, Juliet, has been withdrawn from school because of her father's "brainless" decision to do so. He laments that the world is unfair to both of them, and he challenges them to a duel to prove his point. He tells them that the rules of the game are that whoever strikes their opponent first with their sword is the victor, and whoever picks up their sword first takes the victor. He warns them that he could mistake their aim and kill them, but they should not call him that, as he could "mistaken my aim" and "kill you . .
