About This Chapter
The narrator apologizes for being an actress. He's embarrassed that he's an actress, but he thinks she's beautiful anyway. He tells her that she was out playing a tour guide for a bunch of kids in the U.S. and that he came to pick her up because he wanted to see her dress rehearsal for an upcoming play. The narrator tells the girl that she looks beautiful today, and that she is the "phantom of the opera" . She tells him that she started acting when a talent scout came to her looking for someone to act in a movie. The first time she saw herself on the screen, the scout told her, "you're a great actress." The next thing she knew, she was acting all over the world. The girl tells the narrator that the girl's mistress gave her a ticket to see the play they're both going to see together. The two of them agree to meet up the next morning at the theater.
