In this chapter, we are introduced to a new character, the "girl friend" , who is a member of the "white cat house" . She is a female student at the University of California, Berkeley, and she has just returned from a trip to Japan with her boyfriend, Inuzuka. The two men are in the middle of a conversation when the girl friend interrupts them. She tells them that she has been kidnapped by the "black doggies" and is being held captive in the "dogby house" by the two men. She asks them to let her go, but they refuse, saying that she is too young and inexperienced to leave the university safely. The girl friend tells the men that she would like to leave, but she is afraid that she will be shamed if she does so. The men agree that they will not allow her to go, and they are ready to fight if she should attempt to leave. The girls leave, and the men are left alone to discuss what has happened. They realize that they are in danger from the black dogs, who are trying to kill them with a sword. They are afraid that if they do not leave, they will be blamed for the death of the girl. They do not know what has caused the feud between the black and the white dogs, but the girls are sure that it is because they fell in love with a black man. They decide to fight anyway, because they are afraid of what will happen to them if they leave.
