In this chapter, the reader is introduced to a new character, a young man named Hu. The young man is a member of the Politburo, the ruling body of the People's Republic of China. He is also the leader of the party that is preparing for the upcoming national mathematics competition. Hu tells the young man that the organizing committee of the competition does not approve of the new master, and that he will go home to take care of himself. Hu says that he has learned a lot in the past few days, and he will be loyal to Hu. He explains that he can translate a contract into the language of the people. The contract states that a party shall do whatever the party requires, if not, the party's soul shall be burnt. If the party does not do the required thing, the other party will die. If a party harms the party, then the party will be killed.
