In this chapter, the creator of the "super tube" realizes that the boy is not on board the ship. He wonders why the master of the ship wants to enslave the boy. He poisons the boy so that he will not be able to survive. The creator tells the bridge group that he cannot find the boy because he is in a secluded area within ten nautical miles of them. He tells the group that the master wants the boy to be enslaved. The group searches for the boy, but they find no suspicious target. They switch to searching through the pitch-black sea at midnight
