About This Chapter
It's been a while since we've heard from the narrator, but he's back with some more music. He's got a bunch of new instruments to play with, including an African drum that he found at a flea market. He tells us that he used to play the piano, too, but now he'd rather play the drums. He also tells us about some of his other favorite music, like the giraffe, which he thinks will be a great piece for the orchestra. The narrator is psyched to hear that the orchestra in Brazil has decided on a setlist for one of their pieces, and he hopes that the brazillians will be able to play it well. We're not sure if this is a good thing or a bad thing, but it's clear that the narrator's not having a good time. He can't believe that the babysitter could've managed to play all of the pieces in the orchestra's setlist, and that the conductor wasn't able to do them well enough to make it to the performance. He thinks the conductor is a jerk, too. He wants to know why the babysitter didn't say anything about the debut of the piece she's playing. He doesn't want to hear about it, either.
