They're excited to see the fountain, which reminds them of home. The wind is blowing in the opposite direction, and the boat has sailed too far. The two are worried about the boat's stability, and they'd like to hurry up and fix it. They also want to know what happened to Shumann, who was playing in a puddle when he caught cold. Shumann says he's going to bring everyone with him to the performance, and he hopes people will believe in him. They both agree that the person who plays the triangle and celesta can't perform because of a scheduling conflict. They wonder if Shumann will be able to find someone to play the roles, and Shumann asks when they'll be finished with school. They agree to meet at the theater at 7pm.
