The scene opens with a conversation between a young woman and an old man. The young woman tells the old man that she has just arrived in Paris and that she wants to buy some beer. The old man tells her that she is a tourist and that he is going back to his home country. The woman tells him that she was supposed to visit her home country, but now she is returning to Paris. She says that it must be twenty years since they last performed together and that it is hard for him to thank her for all that has happened. He says that he has a wonderful affection for his student, who has grown so much in the past few months that he decided to put her on the stage. He tells the young woman that she should not have done such a thing, as she is dying and will have to decide her own future. She asks why he does not have her phone, and he says that she said she could not play any more because she is with an orchestra from brazil. He adds that they are bringing in a young, lively Japanese man and that the woman has refused to see him after her performance. He asks her where she is and she says she will tell him when she finds out. She tells him about her upcoming trip to the pyramids and says she has read about the grave of Nef's father in a manga. She then asks him if he is a famous pianist and he replies that he did a good job with his performance. She adds that she had heard a lot about classical music but never heard such a moving performance as the one he did with her. She also asks him about shinichi and he responds that he had been one hundred years old and had died
