About This Chapter
On gods in heaven Up.co This is "the 3rd movement of petrouchka" . It's the last piece of the competition, and it's difficult for Viola to play because she's sick. She's not going to give up on the piece, though. She won't be able to play it since she has such exceptional memory, but she can't play it because it'll insult the gods. The piano player claps and says he knows Viola, who won a 3rd-place prize in a competition at his company. He says he's going to beat her in the next round, but that he'll lose to her again if she doesn't stop playing. He's interrupted by the arrival of the piano player, who's playing the same piece as Viola. He asks if Viola has gotten any better at playing all three pieces. He wonders if her playing has gotten better to the point where she could be a finalist. She plays the first piece, which he calls a "beautiful sound" , and the second piece is a "powers play" that he calls "ja powerful schimmann" and the third piece is the "stavinsky" piece. He calls it a "perfect syncopa like her baby" and says that he hasn't ever heard a more perfect piece of music.
