About This Chapter
The scene opens with the rehearsal of the R&D orchestra for Mozart's "Cobalt and Orchestra" . The orchestra is led by a young conductor named Shinichi, who has just won the first prize in the competition. He introduces himself as "young music's nobleman" and tells the audience that he is bringing "one hopeful rising star / orches" to the stage. The audience is impressed by Shinichi's ability to conduct the orchestra, and he introduces the soloist, Toru Kikuchi, as "miki" , the violin player of the orchestra. Shinichi also conducts the overture of the "Manfred" symphony , and the audience applauds the conductor's performance. The scene ends with the orchestra taking a fifteen-minute intermission to reflect on the success of the day. The narrator is in love with the oboe god, and wants to join the orchestra so that he can play with him. He also wants to bring the conductor to the festival in Nln, Germany, where he has heard him perform.
