About This Chapter
In this short scene, the audience is introduced to the young protagonist, who has just returned from a performance of the Brahms symphony in which he was a part of the audience. He is now 12 years old and has just witnessed the death of one of his classmates on an air travel accident. The protagonist's mother is next to him on the flight, and she tells him that the only person who died in the accident was the young man who was sitting next to her on the plane. The young protagonist tells his mother that it was not his fault for the accident, and that he will go to the next one next year.
