In this short scene, the young piano student, finland, is on his way to Paris for his debut with the wiltord symphony orchestra. He is very excited to meet his new teacher, the concert master, and to perform his first piece with him. The two exchange pleasantries, and finland tells him that he has found his debut "symphony phony" . He tells the young man that he will be applying what he has learned in the previous four lessons to this particular orchestra. The young man thanks him for his good wishes, and tells him to remember that he is going to apply the lessons he has just learned to his next piece. He then tells him about the family's plans to leave for Paris immediately. He wonders if nodame is still at school, and wonders if she is staying there. She is not, he says, her usual self. He asks her why she is upset, and she says that she has been studying all day, but everyone is younger and smarter than she is. She says that her teacher told her that her playing was "crap" , and that he asked her what she was doing there. He said that what made her rush was that she didn't understand the music. He says that if she feels bad for him, then she can give him money to slam welcome back. She must be tired, he tells her. He thinks that she feels pressure to rush herself because she has higher aspirations.
