About This Chapter
In this short scene, the young narrator viera is trying to find out why she has to stay in Japan. She wants to see the performance of her son, Macbeth, at the national opera competition. Macbeth's father, the famous pianist Masadayuki chiaki, is also a student at the music school where the narrator is studying. The young narrator is impressed by his son's talent and wants to know why the school doesn't send him to Europe to study. He wants to be like his father, who used to take him to concerts and who taught him how to play the violin. He also wants to learn how to conduct an orchestra one day. He tells the narrator that his parents divorced and that his mother decided to send him back to Japan to study music. The narrator tells the story of how he was kicked out of his piano teacher's class because he didn't conform to the strict rules of the school. He says that even though his teacher is famous, he is still a good teacher and that the only teacher he wants is his mother's former teacher, viera. He asks the narrator to go to Europe and become a musician so that he can help his family.
