About This Chapter
The scene opens with a discussion between Hiroshi and Mina. Hiroshi tells Mina that he's going to have lunch with the director and his assistant. Mina is impressed with the conductor, but Hiroshi says he'll have to practice more because of his injury. Mina says she's not going to meet Hiroshi's friends, but she does want to introduce herself to them. She tells Hiroshi that she'll give him a call when she gets settled in, and Hiroshi promises to tell her if she passes the entrance exam. Mina thinks that Mina is a great player, but he says she dropped out of school and failed to get into the conservatoire. He says she could have gotten into the conservatory if she hadn't dropped out. Mina tells him that she moved out of her apartment so she could take the exam. She says that the exam took about a month, but the conductor asked her to accompany him to Japan so he wouldn't have to leave her alone. She's sad that she lost money on the exam, and she wants to eat some "mabo tofu" .
