The elder tianhong tries to convince the young man that he is not responsible for the deaths of his brother and sister-in-law. He says that the two of them must return alive. The young man, however, is not convinced. He wonders if humans and demons are really so different from one another. He compares the whiteness of the place to the "vast expanse of nothingness" in his consciousness. He asks the old man to help him escape from the "weikin pillar formation."
