The patriarch asks his mother to forgive her son for his expulsion from the academy, but she refuses to do so, saying that she has learned so much from his time there that she can use what she has gained to make amends. The patriarch then asks his son to stand up and explain what has happened. He tells his son that the clan has punished him, and that he is to look after and teach the children. He also has to carry ore for two hours a day from the mine. He accepts the punishment, and goes home to rest.
