This chapter opens with a description of the various ledgers in the Young Master's room. The ledgers are from the period of five hundred years, and the date of this token was 802 years ago. The recipient of the token was Shang'guan, and he deposited six million taels and 15 million silver tokens. The interest accrued over this period amounts to thirty-seven taels. Young Master tells him that he can withdraw all of this money from the merchant's guild, but that it will probably take a month. He also explains that he has stored over sixty-three items in the room, including the purple-tier items. He tells Young Master that he will come collect them and arrange to sell them off at the guild auction. The family is in need of funds as well, and Young Master can borrow money from them.
