This chapter opens with a flashback to the previous scene, in which Lin learns that she is being pursued by a young nobleman from her own family, the qinglin family, who is the descendant of one of the eight noble families of the Ming Empire. Lin tries to find out who this nobleman is, but the young man is too ignorant to recognize her. Lin is angry at the arrogant young man for being so ignorant. She tells him to find a place to have a long chat with the other noblemen, so that he can learn a lesson
