Hiroshi and the others are happy to see Hiroshi, but Hiroshi tells them that he has not yet received his acceptance letter. He asks them to hurry up and get Hiroshi a car so that he can go back to the Toda. Hiroshi says that he is not sure what to do, but he tells them not to give up on him just because they are worried about him. He tells them to be patient with him, because he is a foreigner and he is afraid of what they will think of him if he does not come with them. They all agree that Hiroshi is a good man, and Hiroshi thanks him for his kind words. He then tells the others that the launch of the boat has failed, and that it is Hiroshi's fault for not being able to get there earlier. They tell him that they have come to let him know that he will not be able to make it back to Toda because of the damage done to the boat. They also tell him not to worry about the damage to his clothes, as they have enough gasoline to get him back to safety. Hirohito thanks them for their good wishes, and they leave.
