About This Chapter
Narusegawa and Roxane discuss their upcoming exams. Roxane says that she has a good chance of passing the second stage of the exam at Todai, but that she will have to wait until the third stage to take the exam. She says that if she passes, she will be able to go to the university of her choice, but if she fails, then she will not be admitted to Todai at all. The two students argue about whether they should take the test the day before or the day after they take it. They argue that they should not be cramming for the test because they should be studying. Rouncewell interrupts them and says that the test is a trivia contest and that if they lose, they have to strip off their clothes. He says that everyone falls asleep during the test and that he and Naruse are the only ones who did not wake up. He tells Roxane that she should have woken up earlier and that she was the one who fell asleep. He then tells her that they can apply to other universities and that they do not have to attend Todai to get into the university. He also says that he would like to become a lawyer after he graduates from Todai.
