The group is back together, and Hiroshi is happy to see them. He's feeling a little nervous about the upcoming exam, since he's just learned that he has to take it again the next day. He doesn't know if he'll pass or not, but he does know that he won't be able to get a high enough score to get into the top universities. Hiroshi wonders if keitaro has failed the exam, and he wonders if the cut-off is too high. He also wonders if there's any way that he could have gotten a higher score than he did last year. He wonders if he could be a "newtype" , which means that he answered all the questions correctly. He thinks that if he had a high score, he'd have to take the exam again the following year, and that would be a disaster. He worries that ronin is going to commit suicide, and wonders if it would be better to let him die with no one to talk to. The group tries to cheer him up, though, by making him feel better about the test.
