About This Chapter
This chapter's epigraph comes from a conversation between the brat and the old man. The old man tells the brat that he's not sure that he just attacked the growth block, but that it's just gotten up again. The brat asks him when he got so strong, and he tells her to forget about it. He's been fighting against enemies all over the world, and they all have the same abilities as he does. He thinks that the brat is immature, but he doesn't trust her completely. He tells her that the only place where the growth can get up is in the channel itself. Normally, when the channel is damaged, it uses the soul elements to recover itself, but as time goes on, the creatures will eat those soul elements, and eventually the channel's soul elements will be depleted and die. This is the "natural law of elimination" , and the only way to get rid of it is with an external force, which isn't very strong. If you want to kill the channel, that's a foolish dream, and there are many of them, uncountable, uncountable. He says that if there's prosperity, there'll be decline, and in all worlds the living will die eventually. He asks the brat not to do anything silly, but to stop following, and to explain to Nemo when he gets back why he still wants to do something, even if he knows that it is out of his ability.
