He's not sure if he'll ever follow the manga again, but he does know that being rich is the best way to do it. He buys all the stuff he needs to go on his trip. The narrator's sister and brother-in-law come to pick him up, but the narrator doesn't want them to know that they used his card to pay for the cab fare. He wants to know where they're going, but they won't tell him where they are going as long as he gives them enough money to get there. The taxi driver tells the narrator that he can take them anywhere they want to go, but warns them to be careful. He also tells them that the glowing thing in the distance is just past a giant lake. They need to walk to get to the tower, but it's past the lake. The chauffeur lied to them about the distance, but now the narrator knows that the guy in the tower isn't willing to see them. He can see the man's soul, he says.
