In this chapter, Ren tells us that he and the other demon-beasts are hiding in the forest because they want to finish off the Lin-beast clan. He tells the rats to run away, but they're too scared to do so. He says that he's trapped in the swamp, and that the more he struggles, the faster he'll fall. He's so embarrassed that he can't stand it any longer. He begs Ren to tell everyone that they've been attacked by the demon beasts, and to warn the old man about it. He also tells Ren to arrange for the lizard to come out of its hiding place.
