About This Chapter
The next morning, the detective is back at work, and he's not satisfied with his day's work. He's still worried about the fight that took place the night before, but he doesn't think it's as bad as it sounds. He also worries about the younger members of the gang, since they're all dressed in biker clothes. The detective says he'd never believe in vampires, but then he remembers the story of the Hoaxes, a group of old men who attacked the sea during a battle in the 1800s. When the detective asks why the boy is asking for a month's leave, the boy says he needs to recover from his hangover. He asks the detective why he came to the police station, and the detective tells him that the man who approved the leave was his father's old partner. He treats the documents that the boy's father collected over the years as "ghost stories" , and says that he'll pay for them when he retires.
