The Governess tells us that she's living a "good life" because the Governess thinks she gave birth to her child. She's not sure what's going on with her husband, though. He came to see her because he thought she had the child, and now he wants her to give birth to his child for him. She doesn't know what he's thinking, though, because she hasn't given birth to a child yet. When she asks why everyone is leaving before they've finished their meal, she hears a familiar voice and realizes that it's her husband. She goes on to say that she likes it that way, because other people aren't finishing their meals.
